NBA training camps will get underway in a few weeks, with every team in the league preparing for the upcoming 2023-24 campaign and hoping to finalize their rosters in time for the start of the regular season in late October.
Even though the offseason is winding down for players around the league, the Portland Trail Blazers have yet to trade superstar guard Damian Lillard to the Miami Heat or any other interested team.
All signs seem to be pointing toward the Blazers and Heat seeing eye-to-eye on a blockbuster trade at some point in the coming weeks, even if other teams have to get involved, but there’s no telling whether that will actually happen, with Portland sending mixed signals.
According to Aaron J. Fentress of The Oregonian, the Blazers are not even telling teams interested in trading for Lillard what they are looking for in return, via Legion Hoops.
“I’ve been told that one of the problems is the Blazers won’t even say exactly what they want.”

At this point in the process, with the start of the 2023-24 NBA season almost a month away, that’s a little ridiculous if it turns out to be true because it will seem like the team doesn’t really want to get a deal done or doesn’t know what will make their team better moving forward.
Over the next few weeks, it’s bound to come to light what the status of trade talks involving Lillard are ahead of next season, but this recent development doesn’t bode well for what may be ahead.
Only time will tell what will happen in this situation and how the Lillard saga will end in Portland, as it seems to be a mess at this point.
