Emma Cook, a key member of Archbishop Mitty High School’s 2025 NorCal Open Division championship team, has recently announced her commitment to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) for her college career. This is a big step for the talented basketball player, who has been an integral part of Mitty’s success on the court.

Cook’s decision to stay within the state for college has come as no surprise to her coaches and teammates. She has always been a dedicated player, constantly pushing herself to improve and help her team win. Her hard work and determination have paid off, as she has become one of the top players in the state.

During her time at Mitty, Cook has been a force to be reckoned with on the court. Her exceptional skills and leadership have been crucial in leading the team to their recent NorCal Open Division championship victory. Her ability to score, defend, and make plays has been a game-changer for the Monarchs, and she has been a key factor in their success.

Cook’s commitment to UCSD is a testament to her talent and dedication to the sport. The Division I college is known for its strong basketball program, and Cook’s addition to the team will only strengthen their roster. She will be joining her Mitty teammate, Nicole Blakes, who also committed to UCSD earlier this year. This makes Cook the second Mitty senior to commit to a Division I college, showcasing the school’s exceptional basketball program.

In an interview, Cook expressed her excitement about her decision to attend UCSD. She said, “I am thrilled to be joining such a prestigious program and continuing my basketball career at the collegiate level. I am grateful for the opportunities that Mitty has provided me, and I am looking forward to representing my school and community at the next level.”

Cook’s coaches and teammates have also expressed their support and pride in her decision. Head coach Sue Phillips praised Cook’s skills and leadership, saying, “Emma has been an exceptional player for us, and we are proud of her commitment to UCSD. She has been a key member of our team, and we have no doubt that she will continue to excel at the college level.”

Cook’s teammates also shared their excitement about her commitment. Point guard Nicole Blakes said, “I am so happy for Emma and her decision to attend UCSD. We have been playing together for years, and I know she will continue to shine on the court at the next level.”

As Cook prepares to embark on her college journey, she credits her coaches, teammates, and family for their support and guidance. She also acknowledges the role that Mitty has played in her growth as a player and a person. She said, “Mitty has been like a second home to me, and I am grateful for the opportunities and lessons that I have learned here. I am excited to see what the future holds for me at UCSD.”

Emma Cook’s commitment to UCSD is a significant achievement not only for her but also for Mitty’s basketball program. Her determination and talent have brought her to this moment, and we have no doubt that she will continue to make her mark on the court at the college level.
