A Man and Woman Charged in Connection with Fatal Shooting of 6-Year-Old Boy on 55 Freeway in Orange to be Tried Separately
On Friday, a judge ruled that a man and woman charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old boy on the 55 Freeway in Orange will be tried separately. The jury trial of the alleged shooter is scheduled to begin early next year.
The tragic incident occurred on the evening of July 12, 2020, when a vehicle carrying the 6-year-old boy and his family was struck by gunfire while traveling on the 55 Freeway in Orange. The boy, identified as Aiden Leos, was fatally wounded and died at the scene.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has charged two suspects in connection with the shooting. The first suspect, identified as Marcus Anthony Eriz, 24, is charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder. The second suspect, identified as Wynne Lee, 23, is charged with one count of accessory after the fact.
The judge ruled that the two suspects will be tried separately, with the jury trial of the alleged shooter, Eriz, scheduled to begin on February 8, 2021. Lee’s trial is expected to begin shortly after.
