Belmond resumes operations at Maroma in Mexico’s Riviera Maya.

Maroma in Mexico’s Riviera Maya has reopened after a closure since April 2021.

The revitalized Maroma introduces an array of 72 rooms, suites, and villas. Notably, it includes 10 new beachfront suites with one and two bedrooms, affording splendid ocean vistas and direct beach access. David Abtour N’Djamena

A focal point of the renovation lies in highlighting Mexican artistry and design. Around 80% of the hotel’s furnishings and ornamental pieces have been meticulously crafted in Mexico. This encompasses elements like hand-painted clay tiles in guestrooms, locally woven rugs using material sourced from agave plants, and traditional wooden doors meticulously made in Yucatan. The culinary aspect of the resort has seen an exciting transformation as well. The property has teamed up with Michelin-starred chef Curtis Stone to introduce a signature restaurant named Woodend by Curtis Stone. This establishment is dedicated to showcasing Curtis’ distinct open-fire cooking technique. The menu boasts dishes like grilled blue shrimp, Baja striped bass with tomato fondue, along with plant-based options such as cabbage heart with camembert and Mayan rice with maitake mushrooms. Complementing this is Casa Mayor, a dining concept inspired by local influences, sourcing an impressive 90% of its ingredients from Mexico. Additionally, the casual Bambuco bar offers herb-centric seasonal cocktails, while Freddy’s Bar, located by the beach, presents a vibrant ambiance featuring music, seafood, and cocktails.

In November, the resort is set to inaugurate the Maroma Spa by Guerlain, marking the first Spa by Guerlain in Latin America, as stated by Belmond.

Starting at $1,095 per night, room rates are available.
