The evident collaboration and solidarity between the country’s workforce and the Fourth Transformation were on display during the XV Ordinary National Congress of CATEM. Claudia Sheinbaum, accompanied by Governor Mara Lezama Espinos and other figures from Morena, received support from the union.
Sheinbaum, the national coordinator for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation, emphasized the symbiotic relationship between the well-being of Mexico’s workers, entrepreneurs, and the overall prosperity of the nation. She expressed her pleasure in officially forming a significant alliance with the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM).
During her address, Sheinbaum highlighted the current positive state of the country and stressed the importance of avoiding regressions to past practices. Emphasizing the ongoing efforts to expand labor rights in the nation, she underscored the shared objective of preventing a return to a past characterized by corruption and privileges.
After the inauguration of the first Labor Committees for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation within CATEM, Claudia Sheinbaum outlined the goal of ensuring workers’ access to a dignified life through collaboration with entrepreneurs. She pointed to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s approach of prioritizing the principle of “for the good of all, first the poor,” asserting that Mexico’s growth hinges on this commitment.
Sheinbaum pledged to continue defending workers’ salaries and benefits, reiterating the commitment to walk together for the well-being of the workers and the country. Pedro Haces Barba, Senator of the Republic and Secretary General of CATEM, highlighted accomplishments resulting from collaboration between representatives of the working class and the 4T government. These achievements include an increased minimum wage, additional vacation days, and the elimination of subcontracting, among others.
