MEXICO.- Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, National Coordinator for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation, highlighted the importance of cooperation between workers and employers for the country’s well-being during the XV National Ordinary Congress of the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM). She emphasized the need to expand labor rights and avoid regressing to the past.
In her speech, Sheinbaum Pardo stressed that aligning goals and objectives is crucial for sustaining the transformation of public life in Mexico. She asserted that the primary focus should be on advancing the Fourth Transformation and preventing a return to times of corruption and privilege.
Following the swearing-in of the first Labor Committees for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation at CATEM, Sheinbaum reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring a dignified life for workers. She underscored the importance of collaboration between the labor and business sectors, an approach strongly supported by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Pedro Haces Barba, senator and general secretary of CATEM, highlighted the achievements resulting from the cooperation between labor representatives and the 4T government, including the increase in the minimum wage and the elimination of outsourcing. He stressed the need to make decisions in line with the principles of the 4T movement.
Senator Ricardo Monreal emphasized the need to strengthen the relationship between workers and the government to continue expanding labor rights under Sheinbaum Pardo’s leadership.
The XV National Congress of CATEM was also attended by notable figures such as Mario Delgado Carrillo, national president of Morena, as well as governors and representatives from various institutions, who expressed strong support for the principles and goals of the event.
