“Making a Difference: Student”

The University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) is full of inspiring stories of people making a difference in the world. One such story is of Neil Gajare, a graduate student of UPenn who has been making a positive impact through his work in healthcare and social justice.
Neil Gajare is a student in UPenn’s Health Systems & Population Health program, and a key player in the Salud Initiative. Salud is a cross-cultural, cross-sector healthcare collaboration that brings together organizations in Philadelphia to improve access to care and reduce health disparities.
Neil has been instrumental in growing and expanding the reach of the Salud Initiative. He helped to develop and implement programs that are designed to increase access to care for people of color, particularly those from Spanish-speaking backgrounds. He also worked to break down language barriers by creating an innovative mobile app that helps to bridge the language divide in health care. In addition, Neil has been involved in numerous other projects, including a program to improve access to mental health services for Latino immigrants and a series of educational workshops for health care providers on cultural competency.
Neil has also been a leader in promoting social justice in Philadelphia. He has been an outspoken advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement, and has spoken out against anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry. His efforts have been recognized by UPenn, which has awarded him the prestigious Joseph Wharton Award for Promoting Social Justice.
The work of Neil Gajare and the Salud Initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of using technology to bridge the gaps in our healthcare system. Neil’s story is an inspiration to us all, and a reminder that we can all make a difference in our own communities. We are proud to call Neil Gajare a UPenn graduate and a Salud Initiative leader.
