San Jose’s Christmas in the Park has a busy weekend ahead

The holiday season is all about giving back and spreading joy to those in need. And this year, the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is making it easier than ever to make a difference in our community. VTA is hosting two exciting events – the Stuff the Bus toy drive and the Santa Run Silicon Valley – where visitors can either bring a toy or participate in a festive run to help spread holiday cheer. These events not only bring joy to those who participate but also make a positive impact on our community.
The 14th annual Santa Run Silicon Valley will take place on December 15th, 2019 in downtown San Jose. This family-friendly event is not your typical run – participants are encouraged to dress up in their favorite holiday attire while they walk, run, or jog through the streets of San Jose. The Santa Run Silicon Valley attracts people of all ages and fitness levels, making it the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit while also staying active. The course is a 5k loop, but there is also a Kids Reindeer Run for the little ones. And for those who are feeling extra festive, there is even a costume contest with prizes for the best-dressed runners.
But the Santa Run Silicon Valley is not just about the run itself. The event also raises funds for three local charities – Christmas in the Park, Downtown Ice, and Reading Partners. By participating in the run, you are not only spreading holiday cheer but also supporting these amazing organizations that do so much for our community. Last year, the run raised over $15,000 for these charities, and this year they are hoping to exceed that amount.
In addition to the Santa Run, VTA is also hosting their annual Stuff the Bus toy drive. On December 14th, VTA will be parked at Santana Row, Westfield Valley Fair, and the VTA headquarters, ready to collect toys for children in need. This is a great opportunity for visitors to contribute to the holiday spirit by donating a new, unwrapped toy. All toys collected will be donated to local charities, including the Sacred Heart Community Service and the Bill Wilson Center. These organizations provide gifts to low-income families, foster children, and homeless youth, making sure that every child has a present to open on Christmas morning.
But if you are unable to bring a toy, don’t worry – you can still make a difference by attending the event and cheering on the runners at the finish line. The Santa Run and the Stuff the Bus toy drive go hand in hand, as both aim to spread joy and make a positive impact on our community. So come out and support these wonderful events, and make this holiday season a little brighter for those in need.
In addition to the heartwarming feeling of giving back, both events also offer a fun and festive atmosphere for visitors. The Santa Run will have live music, dance performances, and even a snow machine to create a winter wonderland. And at the Stuff the Bus toy drive, visitors can enjoy hot cocoa, holiday music, and take pictures with Santa. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend time with loved ones and create lasting memories while also making a difference.
So mark your calendars for December 14th and 15th and join VTA in spreading holiday cheer. Whether you participate in the Santa Run Silicon Valley, donate a toy at the Stuff the Bus event, or simply come out to support and cheer on the runners, you are making a positive impact on our community. Let’s come together this holiday season and make it a truly magical one for everyone.
