‘I want to walk her home’: Essex landscaper walking from London to Ghana to honour late fiancée

A grieving landscaper from Essex is embarking on an incredible journey to honour his late fiancée. Mark Smith, 36, is set to walk more than 5,000 miles from London to Ghana in memory of his beloved partner who tragically passed away last year.

Mark and his fiancée, Sarah, had been planning to travel to Ghana together before she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Despite undergoing treatment, Sarah sadly lost her battle with the disease and passed away at the young age of 32.

Determined to honour her memory and fulfil their dream of travelling to Ghana, Mark came up with the idea to walk from London to the West African country. The journey will take him through 12 different countries, including France, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, and finally, Ghana.

Mark, a self-employed landscaper from Essex, has been training and preparing for this journey for the past year. He has been walking an average of 20 miles a day and has also been working on his physical and mental strength to ensure he is ready for the long and challenging journey ahead.

Speaking about his motivation for the trip, Mark said, “Sarah was my soulmate, my best friend, and my everything. We had so many plans for the future, and travelling to Ghana was one of them. After she passed away, I knew I had to find a way to honour her memory and make our dream come true.”

Mark also shared that he wants to spread awareness about the rare form of cancer that took Sarah’s life. He hopes that his journey will inspire others to support cancer research and help find a cure for this devastating disease.

Mark’s journey has already gained significant attention and support from his local community in Essex. He has also set up a fundraising page to raise money for cancer research, and the response has been overwhelming. People from all over the world have been donating to support Mark’s cause and honour Sarah’s memory.

Mark’s journey is not just a physical challenge; it is also a journey of love, hope, and healing. He plans to take Sarah’s ashes with him on the journey and scatter them in Ghana as a final tribute to her.

Mark’s journey is a reminder to all of us that love knows no boundaries, and even in the face of tragedy, we can still find the strength to turn our pain into something positive. His determination to honour Sarah’s memory and fulfil their dream is truly inspiring.

As Mark embarks on his journey, we must all come together to support him and help him reach his goal. Let us all join hands and show our love and support for Mark and his cause. Together, we can make a difference and help Mark fulfil his promise to walk Sarah home.

Mark’s journey will not only honour Sarah’s memory but will also spread awareness about the devastating impact of cancer. It is a reminder that we must cherish our loved ones and make the most of every moment we have with them.

We wish Mark all the best on his journey and hope that he finds peace and closure as he walks his way to Ghana. Let us all stand with him and support him as he turns his grief into a journey of hope and love.
