Senate Democrat: ‘Trump really only cares about Tesla’s stock’

Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) did not hold back in his criticism of President Trump’s recent show of support for Elon Musk’s Tesla. In a scathing statement released on Tuesday, the senator accused the president of using his position to boost the stock price of his close ally’s company, rather than focusing on the well-being of the American people.

The controversy began when Trump announced his plan to purchase a Tesla and test out several models parked outside the White House. In a tweet, the president praised Musk and his company, stating that they are “doing great things for America.” However, Senator Coons was quick to point out the ulterior motives behind this display of support.

“It is clear that President Trump’s only concern in promoting Tesla is to benefit his own personal interests,” Senator Coons stated. “Instead of using his platform to address the pressing issues facing our nation, he is using it to promote a company owned by his close ally.”

This is not the first time that President Trump has shown his support for Tesla. Last year, he publicly praised Musk and even tweeted about his desire to see more Teslas on the road. However, Senator Coons argues that these actions are not driven by genuine admiration for the company, but rather by Trump’s selfish desire to boost the stock price of Tesla.

“What we are witnessing is a clear abuse of power by the president,” Senator Coons continued. “While American families are struggling to make ends meet during the ongoing pandemic, Trump is using his position to benefit himself and his friends. This is unacceptable and needs to be called out.”

Senator Coons also highlighted the controversial history of Elon Musk and Tesla, including the numerous lawsuits and investigations the company has faced. He urged the public to question the motivation behind Trump’s support for Tesla and to hold the company accountable for any wrongdoing.

“It is important for us to remember that Tesla is not above the law,” Senator Coons stated. “While they may be pushing the boundaries of technology, they still have a responsibility to operate ethically and within the bounds of the law. This should not be overlooked in the midst of President Trump’s promotion of the company.”

Despite Senator Coons’ strong words, the president has continued to show his unwavering support for Tesla. In a recent rally, he even boasted about the success of the company and claimed credit for its achievements. However, it is clear that Senator Coons and other lawmakers are not buying into Trump’s rhetoric and will continue to hold him accountable for his actions.

As the nation faces numerous challenges, it is disheartening to see the president using his position for personal gain rather than focusing on the needs of the people. It is important for our leaders to prioritize the well-being of the country and its citizens, rather than their own personal interests. Let us hope that President Trump and other government officials begin to do just that.
