Mara Lezama attends the Catem congress in support of Claudia Sheinbaum.

Governor Mara Lezama was a special guest at the XV Congress of the Confederation of Autonomous Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), where Claudia Sheinbaum, National Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation, also participated.

At the event held in Mexico City, Governor Lezama reaffirmed her strong support and commitment to working alongside Claudia Sheinbaum, accompanying her at the head table with other key figures, including Morena’s leader Mario Delgado.

The CATEM congress provides a forum for discussions with union representatives aimed at improving working conditions, especially for the workers of Quintana Roo.

Founded 15 years ago, this union now counts around 7 million members across 1,192 labor organizations in various industries.

Pedro Haces, the union leader, expressed his gratitude to Sheinbaum, saying, “Thank you, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum, for making time in your schedule. First, you governed my home, Tlálpan, of which I am so proud; then, you led this city, and soon, you’ll see what happens next. You are a top-tier woman, thank you, dear friend.”

In response, Sheinbaum formally announced a coalition with the workers’ union.

“Next Monday, we begin the formal process of my campaign for the Presidency of the Republic, and I invite you all to be part of this journey. I promise the workers that we will continue fighting for their wages and labor rights because we know that when workers thrive, both businesses and Mexico thrive.”
